Great Gatsby Essay
The Great Gatsby is an American classic that has been read and taught for many years. It truly is a good book but with its many key elements that make the reader think. What makes Jay Gatsby so great? Well I want to try and make as many points as I can to try and explain why Jay Gatsby is so great
My first reason why Jay Gatsby is Great is because he was a good person. And what I mean by that is that he was very educated in his speech and mind he was a good person not only to nick but to daisy and those around him. Now gatsby always kept his calm no matter what the situation for example Gatsby kept his composure when he was being pressed by Tom and it made him look like a real well mannered person. I was always told that the people that give in and let the anger take a hold of them is the weaker person because it makes you do things that are said out of anger and frustration. So that makes him great in one way.
My second reason why he is great is his wealth. Now being wealthy does automatically mean that you are better than anyone but it’s how Gatsby got his money. When he was little he started off with nothing he had barely anything it was said that he made a profit by selling alcohol with mr wolfshine and selling it during the time when alcohol was banned. So he completely made a huge profit and became rich from doing that and later doing other things that would help him become successful and wealthy
My last reason why he is great is his love for daisy this book was based on love in my opinion and I would say that this is the most important thing that would make Gatsby Great for example gatsby met Daisy when they were younger and he still loved her when he met her many years later even though she felt different about it. Another reason is when Daisy killed another person while driving Gatsbys car Gatsby took the blame for her and he put his life on the line even if it meant that he would go to jail or get killed and I think that if he’s willing to do those things for someone that he really loves I think that makes him pretty great and it shows that he really does love daisy.
In conclusion I say that gatsby is really a great person from all these evidence that was given I would also like to point out that the moral of this story is you need to be as refuel who you want to be with you want to surround yourself with people that truly love you and won’t take your feelings for granted i think this book was truly sad because the only person who took gatsby serious was nick and he was a good person to gatsby I hope that they will keep teaching this because there definitely is a lesson to be learned in this book that it truly good to know.
